Forbes.com researchers analyzed Bureau of Labor Statistics data to determine the cities creating the most jobs in the business and professional service sector. Nashville ranks No. 1, with business service employment growth of 47.2 percent since 2010 to 152,700 jobs, with 7.7 percent growth last year alone.

Nashville has the No. 1 metro housing market in the nation, according to a report published on livability.com. The ranking is based on Freddie Mac's Multi-Indicator Market Index, which includes the best and most improved housing markets across the U.S. Ranking No. 17 in the U.S., Tennessee’s housing market is the second-most improved in the survey.

As the home of digital entertainment and music applications, the Nashville market has increased its tech tenant labor pool by 67.9 percent over the past five years.Tennessee placed fourth in Kiplinger’s new report, "10 Best States for Retirement in 2016." According to their analysis, every major metro area in the state has lower-than-average living costs — especially for health care and taxes, which are particularly important to seniors. Overall cost of living in Tennessee is 2 percent below the national average.

Since 2012, the Thumbtack Small Business Friendliness Survey has surveyed thousands of entrepreneurs on the state and local public policies that affect their ability to start, operate, and grow a business. In 2016, more than 12,000 U.S. small business owners participated in the study.

Market research and data firm Quantum Workplace surveyed more than 8,700 organizations in 47 cities across the United States and discovered which cities have the highest percentage of employees who feel truly professionally engaged in their workplaces. Nashville ranked sixth, with 71.2 percent employee engagement.

Nashville was named as one of the top cities for startup growth, ranking No. 5 in a 2016 Kauffman Report, ahead of San Francisco and Boston.
The ranking marks a leap from 2015, when the city was No. 9.
The Kauffman report studied employment and revenue growth at companies in particular areas.Using job data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and cost-of-living information from the Council for Community and Economic Research, financial research website SmartAsset ranked the top 10 U.S. cities for creative workers. Nashville comes in ninth. This is the second year SmartAsset has conducted this research; Nashville also ranked in their 2015 list.

Davidson and Williamson counties are among national leaders for job growth, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.
"But in places from Music City to the Chicago suburbs to the California coast, wages are growing much faster. Weekly wages grew 4 percent or better in 44 of the 342 U.S. counties with at least 75,000 jobs, according to Labor Department data released Wednesday. Wages in Davidson, Tenn., the county that includes Nashville, rose 5.5 percent. Pay in Williamson, Tenn., just to the south, rose 5.2 percent. Williamson led the country in job growth, with employment growing 6.5 percent."U.S. News analyzed 100 cities in the United States to find the best places to live based on quality of life and the job market in each city, as well as the value of living there and people's desire to live there. Nashville ranks as No. 22 with an overall score of 6.8 out of 10.
