Vanderbilt, an independent, privately supported university, comprises 10 schools and a growing number of interdisciplinary research centers. The separate, nonprofit Vanderbilt University Medical Center enjoys a close collaboration with the university through education and research and is one of the nation’s leaders in patient care.
