Helpful resources for 2020 graduating seniors and their parents

Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. While parents work remotely and students are out of school, everyday routines are affected. The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce Talent team continues to be in conversations with MNPS, Nashville State, and other community partners to establish how we can best support students during this time. We’ve compiled information from several of our local nonprofit organizations that are providing great tools to engage parents and students.

The Tennessee College Access and Success Network (TCASN) is conducting weekly check-ins with college access professionals from around the state. Oasis College Connection, GEAR UP, and Martha O’Bryan (MOB) are working together to ensure students are getting all the information they need. Resources for high school students to access their schoolwork is available online. They can also contact any of the Oasis Center College Connection Team members, to receive free help completing college applications. GEAR UP continues to text, call and email students daily to provide application and financial aid support. While GEAR UP and MOB are school specific, please know that Oasis College Connection is open to anyone from Davidson County. In-depth information for MNPS graduating seniors can be found here.

Additional resources on education are also available on our Nashville Chamber Resource page. Find out what universities are waiving ACT scores as a requirement for incoming freshman for fall 2020. If your student is planning to use a Tennessee Promise Grant, make sure you meet the deadlines for completing the FAFSA, virtual orientation, and virtual community service. Contact your outreach specialist during their virtual office hours for any questions.
