Register to vote by March 31 to make your voice heard on transit

Nashville's Metro Council has voted to place the Let's Move Nashville plan on the ballot for the May 1, 2018 election. The May 1 election is coming up quickly – are you registered to vote? Click here to register online.

The state of Tennessee ranks 40th in voter registration, with more than 838,000 people not registered to vote. Even more troubling - the state ranks last in the United States for voter turnout. In fact, more people voted in the 1971 mayoral election in Nashville than in the 2015 election – even though the population increased by more than 200,000 in those 44 years. You can learn more about the state’s efforts to increase voter engagement on the Project Register website.

The good news is that it’s easier than ever to register to vote! As long as you have a Tennessee driver’s license, you can register to vote online by visiting this website: https://ovr.govote.tn.gov/

The May 1 election on the transit referendum will be critical in determining the shape and future of Nashville and our Middle Tennessee region, for the next 25 years. The Let’s Move Nashville transit proposal will have a huge impact on the Nashville area’s ability to continue growing and remain a place that attracts and retains businesses.
