Q: What is Hytch, and what should fellow members know about your services?
A: Hytch created a social matching platform that helps people organize a real-time group of ridesharing options, bringing old-fashioned carpooling into the digital age. Hytch is a free application anyone can use on a smartphone. Users save money on gas when they match empty seats in their car with people going the same way. Passengers make micro-payments through the platform directly into the bank accounts of their friends, neighbors or co-workers who provide good company during a long-distance, daily commute. Nashville can become the first city in the world to create a peer-to-peer mass transit network. With over a million empty seats headed to and from Davidson County every day, Hytch can be your ultimate mobility tool.
Q: What has been the most valuable aspect of your Chamber membership?
A: Aristotle said, “Man is by nature a social animal.” Our problem-solving is at its best when we come together, create communities, and share our imaginations and resources. Hytch joined the Chamber for just that reason, aiming to solve one of Nashville’s biggest problems: traffic. We value the innovative attitude of Nashville Chamber members and staff. As Chamber members, we can better contribute to problem solving and rise together to the leadership challenge. Hytch shares this simple goal with the Chamber: to put two people in a car. That is the single fastest path and least cost-prohibitive approach to reduce traffic. To be alone in a car, frustrated twice a day by a traffic jam, is bad for the soul and the environment. Sharing the ride is good. Sharing feeds our desire to be social.
Q: What's the best thing about doing business in Middle Tennessee?
A: Middle Tennessee’s creative culture makes it a great place to do business. People try new things and take action in Nashville. We believe in the notion that we can fix anything with the right dose of dedication, innovation and teamwork. There is no barrier to success in a place where people celebrate good ideas and help one another by sharing their time, treasure and talent.
Q: Describe a recent challenge and how you addressed it.
A: We created our application with international partners and learned a ton about why our strategy actually works. However, given the speed of evolution in both autonomous intelligence and autonomous vehicles, we decided to bring all our new development activity back home to Nashville. Working to extend our capabilities and prepare for scale, we are excited to gain faster cycle times and expect better connection with our vision, values and vehicles.
