Country Music Association

Established in 1958, the Country Music Association was the first trade organization formed to promote a specific type of music. The organization, which originated with only 160 members, now boasts a membership of more than 7,500 individual and organizational members in 30 countries. Governed by a Board of Directors comprised of music industry leaders, CMA tackles numerous initiatives designed to promote Country Music each year including its two signature events, the CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair® and the CMA Awards. The CMA Music Festival, known as “Country Music’s Biggest Party™,” is an annual four-day event held in Downtown Nashville each June that attracts fans from around the world. The CMA Awards, Country Music’s most respected honor, became the first music awards show to be broadcast on network television when, in the show’s second year, it aired in 1968. The CMA Awards, known as “Country Music’s Biggest Night™,” airs annually on the CBS Television Network and remains one of television’s most watched specials each year.
